Our Identity Statement

At Alkebulan Makers Collective, we exist to uplift, celebrate, and create opportunities for creatives, entrepreneurs, and artisans with connections to the African continent and diaspora.

We acknowledge the richness and complexity of African identity across lineages, regions, languages, and lived experiences — from the continent itself to the Caribbean, Latin America, the United States, and beyond.

While we use the term African for clarity and visibility, we do not see identity as singular or imposed. We honour the many ways our members may identify — as African, African-Australian, Afro-Caribbean, African American, Afro-Latinx, or of mixed heritage. What unites us is a shared thread of ancestry, cultural legacy, and creative contribution to the global African story.

This space is for those who feel called to reconnect, reclaim, reimagine, and represent — each in their own way.
